SEPTEMBER NEWSLETTER

A NOTE FROM MISS ASHLEE
Welcome to DANCE 2 XTREME! Whether you are a returning student or a new one, we are very excited and honored to have been given the opportunity to fulfill your knowledge and passion for dance and tumbling this year. It is our personal goal to make this year our best one yet, for both our students and their families. It is very important to us that each and every individual has a great experience while being a student here at D2X. If you ever have a question, please do not hesitate to call, shoot us an email, or simply stop by the office. We are here for you and like to have constant communication with ALL of our families!
After this past summer, there is no doubt this year will be an exciting one!! Here are some highlights of what we’ve been up to here at D2X…

-Our 2011 recital theme has been set and will definitely raise the bar for our always entertaining show! But until it’s announced, we’re keeping it secret!!
-We added a new addition to our staff, Cassie Jackson, who happens to be a D2X alumni and an extensively trained, well-rounded dancer & teacher.
-We had quite an eventful break, with classes spread throughout the summer and a visit from our friend & guest teacher from Los Angeles, Jared Fox, in August. While he was here, he judged competition auditions, had class with our new team, and also choreographed a few pieces.
-Early August, I traveled to Las Vegas for a teacher conference and took classes from faculty such as Ryan Kasprzak (So You Think You Can Dance), Wayne Sleep, and Strikers All-stars (America’s Best Dance Crew) to name a few. It was a great time and I came home inspired & rejuvenated, ready for the new dance year!
-A VERY exciting thing happening this year… Brett & I are expecting!! Yes, it’s true! I am due February 28th. Don’t worry, dance will continue on as normal! I plan on teaching for as long as my body allows (right up to the day if I have it my way of course!) and will then have a substitute step in when necessary. Since this will be happening during recital preparation time, I do plan on getting a few weeks worth head start on recital choreography for my older classes. I will be back to my classes as soon as I am able and with a brand new addition to our ever-growing D2X family!

As you can tell, there are many exciting things to look forward to and enjoy throughout this year! Once again, thank you for believing in all of us here at D2X. Let’s have a GREAT year!

MEET YOUR TEACHER
Name: Ashlee Mestdagh
Birthday: April 24th
Pets: Two big Maine Coon kitties, Benson & Huxley.
Fave food: Sushi & seafood. Mexican. Homemade chicken noodles & mashed potatoes. Yum!
Favorite color: Purple, aqua, pretty shades of blue… I like jewel tones.
When did you start dancing?: I started at the age of 3 and have never stopped! I have studied all styles of dance, pointe to hip hop, tumbling and even partnering! (Old school! Hehe)
Favorite dance style: Contemporary/jazz & hip hop.
Fun fact: I was an audience member on The Price Is Right years ago when Bob Barker still hosted. The process is exhausting! You spend all day waiting in line (we were there by 5 AM!) and then the actual taping starts around 4 PM and only last about 20 minutes. Little known fact - they conduct quick interviews with ALL audience members to decide ahead of time who gets called to “come on down”. I didn’t get called down, but the lady in front of me made it through the final round so I got plenty of camera time!
Next month, Miss Jessica!

COUPON BOOKS
If you would like a payment coupon book for this year, let Judy know in the office.

POLICIES
Please make sure you are dressed correctly and hair is pulled back before coming to class. Moms, please be sure to take your little ones to the restroom before class starts. When I let one go to the potty, it starts a chain reaction!

E-MAIL LIST
If you would like to get all notes e-mailed instead of stuffed in a dance bag, please sign up for the mailing list in the office. These e-notes will be going in effect next month.

CONTACT INFO
Please contact us through either our studio phone or studio email (both listed above). Please do not contact me about studio issues on facebook. That just makes one more place for me to have to routinely check and it gets a little confusing trying to keep everything in order and locate information. Thank you for your understanding.
